Agile has teamed up with TrueFire and JamPlay to bring you Lick of the Day, the guitar learning app! Lick of the Day offers 50+ courses spanning 1,200+ blues, rock, jazz, country, bluegrass, fingerstyle, rockabilly, R&B and acoustic lessons.
Each Lick Pack features 12 to 25 lick video lessons—about 60-90 minutes of video—from a skilled instructor, along with matching interactive tab/notation, text narrative and backing tracks. Many Lick Packs are presented in sets of two volumes per genre, where the second volume builds on the concepts and techniques that were presented in the first. Additional TrueFire and JamPlay Lick Packs are already in the pipeline for release in coming months.
Lick of the Day supports dual instructional modes to optimize the learning experience. In instructor mode, the student follows along with the instructor via video, with synced† tab or music notation and a fretboard display showing the notes being played by the instructor. In practice mode, the student controls the tempo of interactive tablature playback and also has access to the backing track audio to practice what was shown in the video.
Lick of the Day is powered by the live tablature rendering engine from TabToolkit, winner of the Apple Design Award. Rather than displaying static tablature, Lick of the Day renders tablature dynamically, including realistic guitar audio and advanced features such as A/B looping and speed control.
Lick of the Day is a free download on the iTunes App Store, and free Licks are available for each Lick Pack to enable guitar students to try out course content before they buy.

Though this app is new, Agile Partners and Guitar World seem to have it down pat! The videos are awesome quality and the notation with the ability to slow down the lick make this app a must have for any guitarist seasoned or new. At $20 for a 6 month subscription, you cant go wrong! And they have celebrity guitarist such as the man, Zakk Wylde!!! You wont be disappointed!! Download this app now!!!
This wonderful app plays licks with midi files over tablature just like guitar pro. (midi is better) Also slow down speed and metronome and a video version! Also a written explaination. Download it now!
Once again a great apps by Agile. Im a beginner at guitar and Ive been told if I want to learn to jam I have to learn licks and licks and licks and make them my own... This apps is just what I need, and its fun and easy.
I finally have a great reason to open my iPad every day... I feel like a kid in front of a candy store. I cant wait for the next surprise with this apps.

Absolutely fantastic app! Lots of diversity in terms of styles to keep me engaged!
This app is truly amazing. Probably my favorite app overall. The app is really polished as could be expected from the same folks that make tabtoolkit, and the licks have something for everyone both style and skill wise. Try out a subscription for a while and youll definitely renew. The guitar world editors are good teachers and the licks from Satriani, M.A. Batio, and Zakk Wylde are phenomenal too. This has already been really helpful for me in developing as a guitarist so I recommend it to everyone.
Some bad moments
I bought an in-app lesson, wich couldnt download. But I ´ve got billed anyway. Send two mails, received no answer ! Had to call Apple to get refunded. So dont buy this app unless you wanna spend hours trying to fix it.
2 stars for the good idea but there are only 5 samples for. For everything else you have to pay.
it gives u 5 sample licks. the rest are for monthly subscription
The only reason you have earned 2 stars is because the licks were actually informative and easy to follow along and learn, however, you only get 5. Thats all...or choose to pay $19.99($20.00 just say it already) for 6 months of access to the app. I think someone is gonna be bankrupt soon. Now dont get me wrong, it makes complete sense to pay a subscription for something you constantly pay for, but number 1: its over priced and number 2: there are other apps out there that dont make you pay a "subscription" charge and update frequently.
If you want 5 stars then listen!
Make an app that you can pay a flat fee to get access to a certain number of licks. And you can pay more for another pack with lets say 100 more licks in it..subscription costs for iPhone doesnt flow well for me and many others. Please take my review seriously and at least make something for those who dont want to have to subscribe.

Great app, great video, but 5$ a mount for something you can got 4 free on internet and, there are many, its overprice.
Give me a apps or a licks pack that ill bought maybe 1$ or 2$ for 100 licks, and ill paid, fade up of subscription...what next app...
